TOPEKS CAMPING CLUB MINUTES
Saturday August 27th, 2011
 Clinton Lake – Cedar Ridge, Clinton, KS


Opening: Meeting was called to order by President Elmer Burnett at 6:15 p.m.

 

Roll Call: by Secretary Joyce A. Neiswender with 20 families present – Guests included Loretta Fox, Mother of Rhonda Theroff.

 

TreasurerÕs Report:  Treasurer Chuck Hoffmeister gave the TreasurerÕs report:         

$692.79 - Checking

                                                                                                $107.03 - Petty Cash

                                                                                               $799.82 – Total

 

Correction to the July Minutes:  Betty Siple furnished all of the ingredients for the delicious tacos that everyone enjoyed at the July campout.

 

Announcements: 

Donna Burnett reported on her mother, Wilma Fader, has been in Lexington Park for rehab and will be getting to go home this next week. 

 

Chelsea Bower is selling frozen cookies as a fundraiser for the Shawnee Heights orchestra.

 

Jessica Christensen is selling coupon books for lots of things in the KC area for $25.00 to raise money for her band to go to the Alamo Bowl in December, 2011.

 

Norma Remp reported she is selling Bierocks - $36.00 per dozen – for North Topeka               Outreach.

 

Old Business: None

 

New Business: August birthdays & anniversaries were recognized.

 

Beverly Johnson, Doris Detherage and Genevieve Collins were thanked for purchasing and cooking the barbequed ribs that all enjoyed.  They were delicious.  Leftovers were sold for $1.00 per bag & four were sold.

 

Elmer announced that Dale & Adalee Miller have given him the ÒGoof AwardÓ since they are no longer camping.  So, be aware - we need to be a watching for the next recipient!!!!

 

For anyone missing a green turf-covered wooden step for their camper, it showed up at our camper when we came back on Sunday during the August campout.  See Terry Christensen to claim it AND the Goof Award.

 

Mary Freeman stated she lost a spoon as the July campout.

 

Church service was held at 9:00 AM on Sunday morning by Chaplain Russ.

The meal will be fried chicken and potatoes at 5:30 PM

I apologize for the delay in getting this out. I have a Òbig witchesÕ hatÓ to fill, so please be patient with me.

 

Friday evening 7:30 pm:  There will be a gathering outside of the gazebo for popcorn, and hopefully some Òghoulish moviesÓ.    SEPTEMBER 30th

 

Saturday 12:00 to 2:00 pm: The witches will gather all the little ones at the gazebo for games and then trick or treating at the campers.   OCTOBER 1st

 

Saturday at 3:00 pm:   There will be a gathering at the black cauldron to create the Òwitches brewÓ of chili. Please bring a small crockpot of your chili to add to the brew. The witches ask that we keep the Òbase ingredientÓ hamburger.   OCTOBER 1st

 

Saturday at 4:00 pm:   Dinner and gathering at the gazebo for the feast of the witches and warlocks.    OCTOBER 1st

 

Once again there will be special prizes for

 

1. The best decorated campsite

            2. Scariest adult costume

            3. Funniest adult costume             

            4. Best carved pumpkin

 

and of course                     

5. The first to find the secret spook                                 

 

Special Requests: If anyone would like to contribute a bag of candy for the pi–ata, please bring it the Pomona outlet campout.
