TOPEKS CAMPING CLUB MINUTES
Saturday July 23rd, 2011
 Pomona Lake – Michigan Valley, Pomona, KS


Opening: Meeting was called to order by President Elmer Burnett at 6:00 p.m.

 

Roll Call: by Secretary Joyce A. Neiswender with 22 families present – Guests included Marilyn & Ron Foster, guests of Betty Siple; Terry Burnett, brother of Elmer Burnett; and Jan, Steve & Nathan Wideman, guests of Bill & Doris Detherage.

 

TreasurerŐs Report:  Treasurer Chuck Hoffmeister gave the TreasurerŐs report:    

$886.02 - Checking

                                                                                                $107.03 - Petty Cash

                                                                                               $993.05 – Total

 

Announcements: 

Betty Siple was thanked for preparing the hamburger for the tacos along with Genevieve Collins for providing all the goodies for the taco salad.  A Thank You to everyone who furnished tomatoes for the tacos and for all those who made ice cream.  We had a very delicious taco salad with lots of great desserts.

 

Wilma Fader in St. Francis Hospital and not doing well with colon problems.  We need to keep her in our prayers.

 

It was good to see Leonard Freeman back with us and feeling better.

 

Bryson & Shannon Bowers announced they have sold their home and will be moving to the country in the Shawnee Heights area.  Said they only had it on the market a few weeks before it sold.

 

Elmer announced that his great nephew that was injured at the parade in Melvern is doing great.  He only had a few bruises and scratches from the incident.

 

Bernie and Dorothy Bower left on August 5th to go to Trinidad, Colorado.  They spent nine days with their son and his family at Trinidad State Lake.  They reported having a wonderful time with highs in the 80Ős and lows in the 40Ős at night.  They left to come home on August 15th and broke down just outside of Abilene and had to have their mini-home towed to Junction City for repairs.  They hope to be at the August campout at Clinton Lake.

 

A large number of Birthdays and anniversaries for the month of July were recognized. 

 

Old Business: None

 

New Business: Elmer announced that the next campout will be August 26th – 28th at Cedar Ridge campground at the Bloomington Area at Clinton Lake.  Beverly Johnson and Doris Detherage will be in charge of the barbequed ribs for this campout.  Last Names A-M are to bring desserts, watermelon and cantelope and Last Names N-Z are to bring a side dish to go with the ribs.

 

There was no church service, as our Chaplain Russ was not present.
